When the motor warms up there is a knock that is comming we are fairly sure from the head.
Our guess is its the cam bearings, how hard are these to replace? In the book I have it says if bearings a stuffed, replace cylender head am cams, now im hoping this is some sort of miss type Shocked

What else could be a knock in the head?
its not a tap like tappets, its a definite knocking that increases with revs but only when motor is warm

Nope its not a misprint Smile there are no bearings for the cams in a G head, they sit in a machined piece of the head, thats why if you have scraped cam holders you throw the head away, the only thing other than the cams that I could think of is the alternator driven gear but its highly unlikely that it would "knock"

if it increases with revs Id say you should start looking for a new head Confused

mate i dont think its the head. i recon u have a spun big end. its caused by revving the shit out of the engine too often. And it increases with revs.

hehe well thats nice to know Confused
starting to think its not actually in the head, especially if there arn't any bearings in there

nup pretty sure its not big end, that was my initial thought too, but aparently its not the right sound for big end.

the latest thought is its the gugeon pin or whatever its called, cos aparently that is heard up through the head?

i had a hillman engine in a buggy that was doing that. i looked at the head and everything but found nothing. after a while, the engine threw a con rod out the side. as it turns out, the last fella that worked on the engine (not me) didnt do the bolts up on the con rod propely. donno whether this helps u but it was an important lesson to me
