i was just wondering what everyones first memory of driving was?

i was 4 when i started. dad was on the back of the ute feeding sheep and i was steering it around the paddoc. i didnt know what the clutch was and was confused about which pedal was the brake, but i sure new which one the accelerator was and exactly what it did Very Happy anyway, after about 5 minutes, i decided it was boring doing 1 m/h round the paddoc, so i hit the accelerator pedal and revved the crap out of the motor doing 20 m/h. of course dad went ass over tit off the back of the ute which pissed him off so he ripped me out of the ute and belted my ass till it was tender and blue. i never got to do that again for a few years Sad

TENDER AND BLUE eh?? Is that why you call yourself BLUEROCKET?? Laughing

Anyhooo, my first memory was when I was about 3-4 and I was in Portugal visiting family.... one of my cousins, who is a complete LUNATIC ( I will explain later) got me to steer his Beetle on the road all the way into the center of town from his appartment, about 2.5k all up. All he did was accelarate and brake, and here was me swearving all over the road... pretty much like BUBB RUBB in his Supra hehe Very Happy

Oh and he is a fucking lunatic cause he used to go down to the beach in this beetle, open the door stand on the door sill and drive steering with his left hand holding on with his right hand and accelerating with his left foot, while his whole body was hanging out of the car..... All while yelling at the top of his lungs, in really bad English, "I'm vindsooofing, I'm vindsooofing!!" Fucking fool!!

Very easy one for me, well a real car anyway, it was about 92 i was 12, is was a state open meeting at Oran Park, and my dad let me drive his Formula Vee around the Paddock in 1st gear.
It felt prety fast at the time.

LOL well the first I remember is when I was learning how to drive, but because we had a motorbike which I'd been riding round our place (3.5 hectares) I was used to riding a bike. Anyway you know how you have to give the bike revs before you let out the clutch, well I found out you don't in the car! I was sitting there trying to get the revs up a bit and the car was revving its tis off so I let out the clutch moto style and did a nice big burnout on my first drive. Needless to say my mother was not impressed! I then spent the next 2 weeks of so stalling it cause I was so conscious of it!

Cheers
Wilbo

i cant recall what age i was but when my old man used to pick me up from primary school in his MS57 crown wagon i used to drive home the last 5 minutes of the journey, damn that was a cool car i wish i had pics of it.

and my first experience driving a manual trans was when i was 11 on a hunting trip in a old nissan patrol 4WD bashing round the bush.

mines abut 6-7yo - steering for dad for about 10km down a dusty backroad - at about 70kmh ..

Didnt do too bad considering i could hardly see over the wheel !

was great fun - an old cream yellow XC falcon - straight 6 - burbly gorst and extractors Wink

i think i can blame my dad pretty much for my " car tendancies "

I would have to say the first one I have is when I was about 8 and I was learning to drive in a Torago of all things.. anyway reversing and cleaned up a fence..
was kinda funny cause I was to short to see out the back window and being a manual and not knowing what I was doing i just took out the whole fence panel... then ripped up all the lawn going forward...
I wasn't allowed to drive after the till I "got Bigger"
