ARP studs/bolts/etc Mon, 17 February 2003 13:54 Go to next message
Hi all,

What (cheaper) alternatives are there to using ARP head studs, main studs, rod bolts, flywheel bolts? Oh and conrods too? I need to cut costs for an application with max 200hp, most probably much less than that.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

You probably could just get new bolts from the car manufacture?

I know someone who was able to buy new main bolts from Mitsubishi. Wasn't all that much cheaper than ARP items though.

it's just that my standard bolts/etc are all out of the engine and have been sitting around for ages, would they get any weaker from sitting around for a year or so?

Does anybody have an idea how much Toyota head studs, main studs, rod bolts, flywheel bolts are for a 4age?

cheers

my last set of ARP head studs for a 3S came with 2 cracked nuts. they are not all they are cracked up to be. ARP promptly replaced them, but they knew all about the problem. Beware and examine whatever you get under a magnifying glass!!. The stock 4AGE/3S rod bolts seem to last fine under race conditions, but we have replaced some with Chevvy (ARP) bolts .
