People wanting easy seat conversion in RA2x

Wanted to let everyone know of a really easy seat conversion for the RA2x Celicas..
I originally put the Honda Prelude seats in but had lots of problems with the height of them. I managed to cut out some of the padding for the passenger seat and bolted the driver seat directly to the floor with no rails. This gave me enough room but decided it was not practical having a fixed seat.
Anyhows... I had a pair of Nissan Silva seats sitting around. These went in really nicely, very simple conversion! All that was needed was some angle, around 50mm on one side and 30mm on the other, and about 1 meter is required in length.
With this cut and bolted down the side of each seat, some holes drilled for the original Celica rails to bolt on to it, all went into place and with no modifications there is more head room than the Honda seat bolted to the floor.
The seats aren't quite as nice as Honda seats, but give plenty of support..
Cheers,
Joel

Hey Joel, could you tell me a little more about the conversion, like what you were cutting and bolting to the seats. How much are Silvia seats from a wreckers? Cheers, Chris.

Basically just got a long length of stainless angle.
One side of it was 50mm, other was about 30mm. Around 3 - 4mm thick.
Take the rails of the silva seats, then place a piece of the angle along each side of the seat that spans almost the entire length. There are a few bolt holes on the silva seats along the side, so just drill some holes through the angle and then it'll bolt up to the side of the seat..
Now take the original RA rails, and position them under the angle, you can use the original holes in the RA rails. Just drill holes in the angle to line up with these. You can decide how far back/forward you want the seat to be at this point also.
It all is very simple. If thats not clear i can try drawing some pictures.. Hard to explain! But took about 1 hour a seat at the most.
I paid $120 for the seats second hand. Or there abouts.
Cheers
Joel

That sounds pretty good mate, I'll be keen to check them out next time I see you.
I had pretty much decided to just get the standard seats skinned & stuffed, but these silvia seats might be the go. I guess it wouldn't be too hard to also mount them back a little further....

Yeah when I attached the rails I put the drivers seat back an inch or so from factory, gives that bit extra leg room. Probably should have put it back 2 inches though.
I'll get some pics soon. No digital camera so its a pain...
