dudes, don't you mean 2TG?
i didn't think there were bigport 2T's out there - just big port/valved 2TG heads...
good old jonnys' website : http://www.tassie.net.au/~jar/2tg-info.html

no - there is such a thing as a big port 2t head greg .. They supposedly came ut in the 71 and 72 celicas like mine in 2t and 2tb form ..
they had larver ports - as stated - plus a slightly more aggfressive cam design ..
Im not 100 % on the info as its a bit sketchy though i do ahve a suspicion that i have one of these heads in the shed - thast came out of my ta22 when i swapped it for the current 2tb
if i had the figures or numbers of what they were i could check

yep i've heard this aswell (possibly from rod try?), the early 2Ts were the powerful beasts(for a 2T that is ).
there is absolutely NO information around on the different specs of 2Ts or 3Ts, only 2TGs. The reason why i'm asking is because 2Ts are so cheap, and i want to play around with one without breaking my budget (and if it dies no-one cares).
I've taken the engraver tool to my head and done some of my own porting on it, looks much better .

just looking for welsh plug sizes and i found this in my esteemed celica book :
2T
intake opens 16 deg
intake closes 54 deg
exhaust opens 58 deg
exhaust closes 12 deg
2TB is same
2TC is same EXCEPT for California spec :
intake opens 16 deg
intake closes 54 deg
exhaust opens 56 deg
exhaust closes 20 deg
unfortunately it doesn't specify block numbers/ranges...
that said the book reckons the 2TB was the most powerful : 113hp vs the 2T 102hp and the 2TC with 102hp also...

heh - the 2t and 3t are capaple of equalling any 2tg out there with the right work - they just dont rev as high or have a as high top speed ..
people doubt it as a performance basis cause the carby and exhaust setup make them underperform ..
make them breath , and feed them more liquid dinosaur and there is plenty more horsies under the crap tag to find ..
i know of at least 4 that have pipped the 180hp at the flywheel mark, one of them being my current motor

2tb runs a higher compression - around 9:3 or 9:8 to 1 compared to 8:5 to 1 in the 2t - hence extra power
thats why mine drives like a beast compared to the old 2t i have - cause i gots me a 2tB!
ps anyone want one - theres one at the salisbury wreckers in Brisbane i think ! runs well too - i wonder if its still there

yup - actually 185 - but close enough
NA it was
the things just got a massive cam - and headwork , and all the internals have been strengtghened and/or lightened ..
revs like the powers of piss and even on the stocky cam its running for vicroads purposes atm - it will still lift the front end

nah no luck mate. theres a man i know of that has raced/built 2T's for over 20years ("aussieboyandy"s father), i'll ask him what he knows about the original specs of 2Ts next time i speak to him.
