Matrix in Oz?

Hey its prolly been asked before but does anyone know
whether the toyota matrix is coming to australia or when it is?
i was reading an old article on them from 2001 and it said it was going to be realised late 2002, but they havnt arrived? just wondering?

Sorry for the old post dig, but this is the one I found while doing a search.
It would seem that it's going to be a 2004 model.

Some of those specs look like toyota is back on track, but really, it seems to fall well short with the 6 speed model being fwd only. WTF? It would make sense that they could very easily use this car to bring out a wrx contender. It had so much potential to be the killer "hatch" of choice. To me the middle model would be the one of real choice. (XR). But for the price, the WRX would win hands down anyway.
