In my opinion you should buy neither as a first car Not because of insurance premiums but simply because you would be best learning in a nice decently powered front drive N/A car like a twin cam/sx (ae82/ae92)corolla (decent power and fool proof handling) with it's front wheel drive you are unlikely to get into serious trouble unless you asked for it. That said i would also buy any decent rear drive N/A car of your liking (escort 2.0ltr,galant,gemini,etc) and have fun learning the ropes on the cheap for a couple of years and then invest in a forced induction weapon of your choice now that you will have educated yourself to decent level and gained a little experience.
