differential options for AE86 Mon, 06 January 2003 08:49 Go to previous message
My Sprinter currently runs the standard, about to shit itself, diff. I am want to fit an LSD diff with ratios ranging from about 4.3 to 4.6. So far i can't find a LEVIN diff and i have spoken to a few people in the field who have suggested a few alternatives. I am looking for some advice and suggestions that can be done at a reasonable cost.
My three options so far are:
1. Fit a LEVIN LSD disc brake diff.

2. A diff specialist suggested it might be possible to modify the original diff by fitting lower gears and an LSD.

3. Have something like a Borg Warner or Toyota Hilux/Hiace diff cut down and fitted. The Hilux and Hiace seem to have much lower gears and many an LSD. The Borg Warner will need lower gears fitted so it would add to even more expence.

Has anyone undertaken such a conversion and lived to tell the tale?
Any help is needed and appreciated as the old diff is getting noisy and is rather boring.
