[Tech] Walbro install into Supra info here. Sun, 14 September 2003 11:58 Go to previous message
Well thanks to 7M-Brisbane and Norbie for giving a hand, I installed a Walbro pump yesterday, thought I would document it incase any other Supra owner wants to do the same.

First unscrew the 4 screws holding the cover of the fuel filler on and take it out.

Jack the car up under the diff and put jack stands under the car as you will need the jack to help support the fuel tank.

Unbolt the plastic shroud cover at the front of the fuel tank. There are 4 bolts to undo. It's can be alittle tricky to get out.

Here is the cover undone.

You will need to undo these lines to get the tank out. One of the clamp hoses is the breather and the other the fuel return line. The bolted section is the high pressure line. You will need a 19mm and a 14mm to undo this. The 19mm section is the one that undoes. Watch for fuel spillage here as there will be abit if the line is still under pressure.

Here are the two bolts that hold the fuel tank up. Undo these bolts but not off. Only loosen them off abit.

Unplug the fuel level sender sensor wires from within the boot.

Now with the jack and a peice of wood/books to spred the weight onto the jack, put it under the tank between the two straps. Now jack it up alittle to give the belts some slack. Take out the pins for the belts and undo the bolts to remove the belts.

Reach up and disconnect the fuel pump connector from the car.

With abit of loweringof the jack the tank should be able to be lowered out, make sure that the tank comes to the passinger/left side of the car while it's lowering to get the filler out.
