Starlet running rough at times

Hey, my girlfriend has a 1997 Starlet. Sometimes, when the car is at idle, it miss'. It will just be idling fine, then for no apparent reason, will just idle rough. I don't know how to explain it, only that it seems to be missing.
I have changed plugs, oil/filter air filter etc, still doing it. If I run the car on premium (optimax or synergy 8000) it doesn't do it very much at all. If it is run on standard unleaded, it will do it all the time, sometimes even when we are driving, especially under load.
Anyone have any insight as to what it may be? I didn't really want to go to the extent of changing leads etc, because we maybe selling it in a month or two.
