I have been lurking here a bit... I have also searched for info at this site on the above noise, albeit unsuccessfully.
I have a gen II 3sge in an AE 101. (actually CDN AE102) The pistons are very noisy when cold. This is noticed usually for the first few minutes of driving when the accel is released.
What I was wondering is does anyone that has one of these motors have any similar experiences?
I have put about 4500 kms on this motor, nothing seems to have changed.
I do have another motor avail to buy, I wondered if I should do this while I have the chance.
I ran it on the dyno, 131 whp, 130 ftlbs Torque. 1/4 mile 16.321 @ about 85-86mph.
I have it running on a gen I ECU. JDM ecu's are difficult to get here.
