I've just bought a 7MGE jap import engine from Jap Performance in Sydney. The oil looks OK and it seemes to have resonable compression when hand cranked.The rocker covers have been leaking which suprises me with an engine thats supposedly done 90,000 k's (engine been thrashed?) I don't want to bung it in and find out its nasty secrets. Does anybody know of any tests that can be done before I put the engine in? Also another engine I looked at was cleaner looking, but had rust build up in the top engine cooling hose from not using coolant, was I right in dismissing this engine? Thanks for any advice.
