Sills repaired, drainage issues.... Tue, 01 June 2004 11:51 Go to previous message
Hi guys,
In the process of rebuilding my RA23, previous owner repaired the rear section of the sills by cutting, folding the metal in and welding in some new metal.
All nice and neat, however now the inside of the drain holes are surrounded by jagged rusted (but possibly converted, and rust proofed) metal. Water could probably pool in there and not drain out properly.

What would be the best method of remedy?

I was thinking possibly plug the holes and pour some epoxy resin in, filling the corner of the sill. That way the water would run forward to one of the further drain holes. Pretty bad tho if I need to repair the sill at a later time, as it would be full of resin. i've been using POR-15 on a lot of the car, but the previous owner has already sprayed bitumen in a can into the gaps that provide access to the inside of the sills, so I don't think it would do a whole lot of good. I can't really get in to cut out the jagged metal as the hole is too small. any help is much appreciated.
Cheers,
Steve
