How to put AE101 dials into AE82 dash Wed, 09 June 2004 13:40 Go to previous message
This is just a quick pictoral guide to how i managed to make singlecam's AE101 GTZ dials from the front cut work in his AE82 dash.

Its what i like to call a plastic cut'n'shut.

Basically, i took apart the two different instrument clusters, and investigated the way each mounted and operated. Tim wanted pretty mcuh all the dials, but i decided that it would be far easier to just give him the speedo and tacho (especially since he wasnt paying me! Razz) and keep the AE82 fuel and temp guages and warning lights etc.

The AE101 also uses an oil "idiot light" rather than a guage, so there was no hassles there.

NB: there is a lot of fucking around with electronics invloved in this mod, so unless you are pretty capable electronically and understand how most auto electrics work, then DONT undertake this conversion!

This is the shell mounting for the AE82 dash, with everything removed.

Here you can see the AE101 shell thingy, and in front you can see how i have cut off the end pieces from the AE82 shell. These cut off bits are the parts that house the temp, fuel and warning lights.
