Corolla Boy Occasional Poster Location: Melbourne Registered: August 2002	What oil to use? Wed, 04 September 2002 14:47 I own I 1987 4ac Corolla. The previous owner used 25w/40. Repco advised me to use 25W/70. Ever since I used the 25W/70 oil I realised the engine has become very noisy (I think its the tappets or lifters) before the oil change the engine use to be noisy only when cold, but now its noisy all the time. The service book recommends using Castrol GTX which is a 15W/40 or 20W/50. Summer is comming up and I want the best protection and least noise from the engine. I sometimes don't have time to warm up the engine 2 times per day so I drive while the engine is still cold. What oil should I use? [Report message to a moderator]
