7M-GE Splutters...No balls.

Ok, the cressies having issues...
The engine splutters and when pushed/floored is essentially lifeless...without being in gear...and thats if it doesn't stall.
The thing is so rough it's not driveable, it really has trouble when cold and when it gets warm it idles alright but has absolutely no power...1st gear is a huge ask of it.
It can run smooth when warm on idle, so i dont think anything of ignition...
I have a feeling it's a fuel pump...
No steam/smoke...Can't be the head gasket, that was replaced quite recently.
Does anyone have any ideas???
If it is the fuel pump...Where's it located in these cars and how hard is it to replace...
Oh and, the 1J is on the way, I just need this to hold out til it gets here...Thinking about upgrading the fuel pump to bigger one for the 1J, if i do this in anticipation of the new engine will it have problems with the current engine??? rather than have to do two fuel pump swaps if thats what is wrong.
All help is greatly appreciated...thanks in advance...
