 Spark Plug Question

Okay, as stated in another thread, I'm going to advance the timing and change the plugs in my 21R-C to take advantage of the fact I'm using 98RON fuel always instead of 89RON which its designed to cope with.
I've been told that I should go one range colder, can someone explain this?
Also, what brand of spark plug do people recommend? I was thinking about looking at the Iridium plugs by NGK or Denso. What does everyone recommend?
