Supercharger clutch (do I need it)

I have a 1ggze engine that I dropped into the hilux today. Now I want to know about my supercharger? How does the clutch work on it? What makes it come on, when does it come on?
Do I need a clutch on it? Or can it be run simply off the pully?
If you could take some time out to explain it that would be great.
1. I am wondering if I can remove the clutch set up so that I have some more room for the radiator.
2. I am also wondering how the clutch works anyway for when I wire this engine up.
Cheers
