AE86 Pricing....

G'day,
I want to have a rant.
Just been to the for sale section, right,
1.some fella has an ae86, that, aside from shocks, springs, mags and a 4agze conversion is basically stock. No LSd, no vented brakes, rear drums, and NO ENGINEERS CERTIFICATION....All for just $8,500-10,000
2.A trueno that has had all the good bits ripped out and replaced with stocky aussie parts- $5500....
3.Import Trueno- $10700 (maybe its funding the guys trip...Is nice though)
And all the others hovering in the $5000+ region. Now I admit there are a couple of okay ones for sale, like with a 4age for 4300,and another stocky one that went for like 2,500,
BUT- correct me if I am wrong, but this is a 18-odd year old car. An economy hatchback car. All of which are kind of up in the kilometres, and in the case of the modded ones have all been built with basically second hand parts...Now they are really only rare because they weren't much good when they were new, and toyota couldn't shift the bloody things. You have to spend big money on a stock one to make even remotely good handling, and heaps of cash to make it go hard.
So why pay all that money? The more people actually pay the ridiculous asking prices on these things, the more the prices will go up. Like the gze one for 10k. OMIGOD, what is this guy trying to pull? I hope nobody is silly enought to pay 10k for it.Fu(k its hardly a step up from a bloody gemini really. In stock form, the sprinter is little better than a ke70, and basically the same as an ae71. Both of which are considerably cheaper. See it makes me mad, because I would love to get an ae86 to mod, but I'm only prepared to pay what one is worth, which is really like 1500 maximum (for a stocky).
So I'm saying- get a clue people and start paying reasonable prices for them, so people don't keep asking stoooopid amounts and pushing the prices up. I can't believe how many people willingly pay like 5k for a rattly, sloppy, worn out ould 1980's corolla. The mind boggles. And if rust gets so many of them, thats why good ones are expensive, where are all the cheap rusty wrecks?
cheers,
floody
