4age starting problem

ok... i fixed the leak in the water pump i beleave. and now my car likes to not start some times....
when i noticed the waterpump leak i also noticed the starter motor earth wire was not connected.. so i fixed by re bolting it to the car. but jst b4 after chucking the water pump back on and taking it for a test it decided not 2 start. i got outa the car checked the earth which was still connected and wiggeld the wires where the starter motor wires join into a plug. I have had this problem b4 with the plug so instead of using the plug we jst by passed it with a striaght wire connection but yet still the problem....
can any one help at all ?
