I have the proof. The Mr2 real name is the Lotus X100. When I learned this I called Group Lotus in England and spoke to a public relations fellow who said he would answer my question off the record and say yes but would deny anything out of respect for Toyota. The deal they made in 1984 was to never divoulge any info that this was an actual Lotus(British) design for fear no one would purchase such a vehical, British cars had major problems at the time.
