(This maybe should perhaps go into War Talk department, I'll toss this one here anyways)

Besides tinkering with petrol Toyotas, my other secret love is Turbo Diesels, mainly German ones. (Jap diesel tech is no match to a German engineering).

Have a read what I read on one American diesel enthusiasts discussion forum.
I just don't know how to take this.

[NOTE - this is real, this is not a flame, diesels can be tricked out to haul ass big time]

..... I spoke with Sparky, who is quite knowledgeable and crewed on the 6.9 pickup that runs 9's in the quarter mile. He gave me a brief insight into the engine, which is as follows:
7.3 block sleeved down to 6.9, twin turbos @ 147 psi, diesel only with water injection, 6" girdle, 6000 rpm, double bolted flywheel with three hardened pins, C6 trans, Strange rear end. He said that the block flexes so much that they have to use rubber freeze plugs!

I'll try to get in contact with the owner and find out more. We might want to think about taking up a collection and inviting the builder to visit us and hold a seminar. Maybe at next year's NorCal? Or, better yet at a Gustapo Meeting.

Seeing/hearing about these sub 10 second diesel pickups (three that I know of, probably many more) is making me lean towards building a drag (or street/drag) truck. The building costs would be similar, and there would be far more opportunities to play.
