BHG in 5M supra- do i fix it or get a 7M?

hi folks,
my curse (killing engines on holiday drives) is still with me - after studuously flushing the cooling system, replacing the pneumatic water tap, removing the last vestiges of emission control and vigorously cleaning all the windows - the 5ME has returned these favours by blowing its head gasket.
i've got lovely white gunk in the oil filler cap, lots of bubbles at the radiator cap and lots of steam (and odour of coolant) at the exhaust tip - from these clues, we can reliably deduce that the head gasket is fuked.
the situation: i've got 2 weeks before i get back to work, my other car is already off the road, i have most of the tools for a BHG here, i can get an engine crane with some difficulty and to get any new parts i'll have to catch the bus or pay for couriers.
the options:
1- partial VRS kit (manifolds, rocker cover and head gasket) with minimal head work
2- replace with 7M-GE (using existing bellhousing/flywheel/clutch/p-plate)
what would you do?
(and i'm stuck in brisbane, all my family and my partner are up at Maleny so it's just me and the cat drinking beers on the deck - what a fuken fabulous NYE).
