 Smokey off idle

Hi all,
Just before I delve too far into some work laid out for me by my car i just want to confirm I have things right.
A bit white/blueish cloud of smoke from the exhaust off idle indicates what exactly? It's OK just driving around, but say taking off from the lights, it seems to smoke. It may have smoked on boost too, but I don't really look behind me at that point 
Could it be the turbo oil seals? Head gasket? 
Just need to make sure i'm going the right way with all this...
