Starter Motor for a 3K

Hey guys,
My starter motor has been playing up so i decided to visit my local auto electriction, they said he could get me a brand new starter motor to suit my corolla 3K, made in japan with a 2 year warranty for 165$, or i could get my old one reconditioned for like 300+. So i decided to get the new one for 165$ i was just wondering was this worth it? i havent put it in my car will be going in tommorow, i just hope i didnt get ripped off. Has anyone else bought a new starter motor before from japan?
