tach and speedo backrounds

Hey, im looking at making my speedo and tach backrounds for my ra28 a little more exciting and also hope to make it a bit more visible whilst driving at night.
ATM this is how they look, Iv had them re calibrated and new dials put on. Maybe i should have got this done after. Oh well
I have heard of programs especially for making speedo templates. Does anyone know of one?
Id be looking for a white backround and a dark transparent colour for the numbers so that the light shines through when driving at night.
I have seen templates around that i have saved but they are in Miles. Preferably id like to make my own with a program of some sort.
I have herd of people painting over them and sanding the numbers back.
Any ideas????
