AUTO ELECTRICIAN NEEDED A.S.A.P - STARTER MOTOR & S/M CIRCUIT NOT WORKING!!! Tue, 21 January 2003 08:52 Go to previous message
OK, to prevent me putting a match to the car i need an auto elec. to have a look at it.

1) The car had been starting and running A1 for a week, up until Saturday night when a mate dropped over so we could sort out some things with the laptop. Went to start it....nothing. Could hear the S/M almost just turnover, and the solenoid doing its usual noise. I thought this very strange as i had been stopping and starting it all afternoon to c if the fans were working properly, which they were.

2) By sunday arvo, it got to the point where you could only hear the starter relay clicking, and by late sunday arvo evn the relay wasnt making any noise!! I was starting to get pissed off......

3) I got my hands on another S/M and installed it on monday arvo. For the 1st few trys it too had nothing...then all of a sudden it started working!!! Fuckin good i thought......then it stopped again.......

4)- The battery is brand new and has a CCA of 550amps, so i ruled it out.
- I tried another starter relay, and it made no difference.
- I bypased the alarm immobiliser for the S/M, still nothing.
- I put an extra earth strap on the car, no difference
- I tried to fire up the S/M by looping from the battery strait to the solenoid (no relay or key switch), the solenoid chattered for a bit then nothing again.
- I tried jump starting the car thinking the batery mite be low on charge, still nothing.
- There is continuity between the + terminal on the battery and the chassis of the car. I thought this strange BUT a mates almost new work van also has continuity in the same way.
- The oil pressure gauge is doing some wierd shit. It only started happening when the starter problem arose
- The starter circuit is completely separate from any other circuit

If this doesnt get fixed, i WILL burn the car.....i am at breaking point.....i have quadrouple checked everything and to no availe. I have had many problems with cars before, and this is proving to be the most difficult to overcome.

If anyone can help, call me on 0413131826. I am DEFINATELY willing to pay for it.....

Please
Phill
